Eetti Helsinki Discussion - Fairwashing and greenwashing of corporate image: Abuse, misuse and co-optation of ethical practices

joulukuun 1. klo 18:00

Welcome to the last Eetti Helsinki Discussion 2015!

Corporations have one primary responsibility: to maximise financial benefits of/for their shareholders. However, with the intensifying discussions about sustainable and responsible business, companies appear to embrace the moral and environmental obligations resulting from their activities, for example through adopting certifications that testify to the transparency of some aspects of their operations (such as Fairtrade or BSCI).

Some say that this seeming transparency and responsibility is just a new disguise for business-as-usual. Others claim that by providing products that carry some social or environmental values to clear a guilty conscience, morality becomes a commodity. But, even so, is it all that bad? Welcome to join a discussion in which we will explore some of the issues connected to the ‘ethicalisation’ of corporate conduct!

Please remember to enroll that we can prepare right amount of servings. Hope to see you there!
